Due to time constraints, I’ve still got lots of stuff to be finished and that I’m not satisfied with.

Before the final presentation, we run several playtests among our friends and family. And I got some inspiration on art design from the feedback.

New title screen.

I updated the main menu background, and the new one is more flat and monochromatic (using the level background I painted days ago). The zhar bird and lamya are in silhouettes so that they look somehow mysterious.

New start menu.

On top of that, I designed a logo for our project using the zhar bird silhouette.

Some alternatives for the logo. The eye belongs to zhar bird.

Now the project has come to an end, and there are still lots of stuff left to improve.

Some feedback says that our game lacks player interaction. The puzzle levels and the narratives are like two parallel games and are not quite relative. So we still need to integrate the gameplay and story better.

Our game is like this lol

Roni and I had some thoughts on how to correspond the levels and the story, for example, to put some fires on the ground in a lamya level. The player can choose to use an item to put off the fire or just leave it.

As we are willing to make this project a full game, we can add more features in the future to make it more like a “game”, rather than a “fiction+puzzles”. Maybe we can learn from Catherine (a Japanese puzzle video game, developed by Atlus) how to combine the puzzles and the storyline in a better way.

Anyway, this has really been a cool journey!
