Anyway, I’m the one responsible for the art design.

It’s amazing that most of us agreed on making this game a real product (at least almost) rather than simply a demo.

Siyana was the one that proposed the idea: to make a game based on Bulgarian mythology (her inspiration was from Oknytt, a puzzle and adventure game telling stories about Swedish folklore). And she is the only one that knows about the folk tales and culture, and reads Slavic language. So it’s quite challenging for me (and the rest of us) to visualize the story and all puzzles in a Bulgarian style.

So now the game is named Yunak or Юнак, which means the hero (usually a young man) in Bulgarian. Yunak is going to be a narrative-driven 2D puzzle game (we love puzzles!), in which a hero makes the perilous journey to find out a closely guarded secret, and will encounter many mystical creatures from the Bulgarian myths.

As Baba Yaga might be the most famous monster in Bulgarian myths, I made her represent the concept art of our game.

Baba Yaga: an evil old woman dressed in traditional clothing. (She eats humans!)

It took me more than three hours for the very first drawing, and I tried to incorporate traditional elements in the character design. A flat, doodle and cartoony art style is used, and is going to be the style of the whole game.

Ryan created a Notion workspace for us to integrate our progress and a calendar with all important dates. We plan to meet (at least) once a week regularly. He is a really good project manager!

In meetings, we will arrange our own homework by the next meeting, so that the work is really well organized.

Everyone is responsible for his/her own domain.

My next to-do is to draw more folklore creatures and the hero for our first demo.
